Jojo Rabbit - Trailer

JOJO RABBIT.jpg
This screening is for audiences 15-19 years only. Free admission.

Many films have used satire to describe the cruelties of World War II, but director Taika Waititi brings in a new take in this bittersweet black comedy. 10-year-old Jojo is fanatically determined to become a true German nazi during the war. At the Hitler Jugend camp, he willingly burns books and throws knives. But when he can’t force himself to kill a little rabbit, it’s revealed that he might not become a bloodthirsty nazi he wants to be. Luckily he is always accompanied by his goofy imaginary friend, Hitler, played by the director himself. Then one day, Jojo’s anti semitic views are challenged when it turns out that his mom (Scarlett Johansson) is hiding a Jewish girl in their attic.

Waititi is charming us with his quirky and funny Der Führer interpretation in this colourful nazi-satire. JOJO RABBIT won the Audience Award at the 2019 Toronto International Film Festival.
