MONOS_1.2.1.jpg
A group of teenagers is stationed high up in Colombia’s cloudy mountains. They are holding a hostage for the paramilitary group they belong to, an American woman only referred to as «Doctora». They pass their monotonous days with intoxicants, exercise and sexual exploration, before internal power struggles gradually start tearing the group apart, with brutal consequences.

MONOS, Colombia's Oscar submission, unfolds like a modern fable spun from William Golding’s Lord of the Flies, and is an intense audiovisual experience: The cinematography alternates between striking images of the Colombian landscape and hypnotic suspense sequences, while the score, composed by Mica Levi (UNDER THE SKIN, JACKIE) lends a constant, disquieting nerve. MONOS is a riveting thriller and a reminder of the thin line between human and animal.
