In the Soviet Arctic town of Barentsburg lives a coal miner, Viktor. At 78 degrees North, isolation is a way of life for him. He is caught on the threshold of losing his hearing in a world that is falling apart. His pride, loves and memories are shattered into disparate parts. Lost among the unforgiving white of the arctic, his reality melts into only one urge - connection. He must try to contact his son, his only lifeline. But what can be said down the line of silence awaiting him?
