Shadows of Liberty - Trailer

Does freedom of speech still prevail in «the land of the free»? Not according to SHADOWS OF LIBERTY. In a series of episodes, this documentary film shows how truth-seeking journalists in very respected U.S. news media, including The New York Times and CBS, are effectively silenced – or severely punished if they manage to get their stories told. Some have been stopped by profit-seeking owners. Some have lost their jobs. Others have been subject to smear campaigns so cruel that they ended up taking their own lives.

In the end, the message in this highly disturbing and uncomfortably topical documentary is crystal clear: The fusion of news media into large corporations spells disaster for a free and independent press. Against the pressure of media giants, multinationals, and strong political interests, freedom of speech is bound to loose.
