INUIT HIGH KICK

A dramatic representation of an athlete performing the traditional high-kick in super-slow motion. The high kick is an ancient celebration of Inuit culture, and the film is a stunning demonstration of timeless athleticism. Made for the Vancouver Olympics.

STIGE MOT LYSET (TOWARDS THE LIGHT)

The 85-year old Swedish artist Åsa Åkerström grew up in Stockholm. The past decades, she has often travelled to Lofoten, Norway to work on her art. Three years ago she left the Swedish capital for good, and deciding to spend the last years of her life in Lofoten. Things don’t turn out quite as planned when she finds out she suffers from incurable cancer.

HALVT DITT, HALVT DATT (HALF OF THIS, HALF OF THAT)

The filmmaker is politically incorrect when she proclaims that she want her future children to be of Sámi origin, both maternally and paternally. But why does she want that? And is it really so bad being «half this and half that»? The filmmaker has interviewed six young people that in one way or another belong to two cultures, in search of answers to her own questions about being multicultural.

HYPERMARKET NATION

Brothers Ingvar and Stig Palmén run a small grocery store in the suburbs of Helsinki. The store has persisted through six decades but is now faced with fierce competition from huge hypermarkets. How will they survive when cheap prices lure people to drive further and further for grocery shopping?
