MASTER CLASS: FINDING AMY
|Thursday 18. January||13:00||Verkstedet, Kulturhuset|
Master Class with Academy Award winner Asif Kapadia
Kapadia was already an accredited feature film director when he moved on to documentaries. He brought with him elements from the fiction film and developed a method eschewing traditional “talking heads” interviews. By using archive material in a new way, he has developed a fluid, emotional style of storytelling, feeling closer to feature films than the traditional documentary.
The master class will guide the audience through the process of finding and developing the story, including key choices, challenges and solutions. Using clips and concrete examples, discussing problems and how they were solved, Finding Amy will be a case study of a unique method of filmic storytelling. In addition to AMY, the master class will include examples from SENNA, and even MARADONA, which is still in editing and will be the final chapter in his trilogy on talent and fame in the modern media world.
The Master Class will be moderated by Karsten Meinich, editor of Montages.no.
