Program 2018

The uncouth and homophobic bad boy Mony gets into money trouble and has to work off his debts at the nightclub, where his transgendered sister Lena works. Things get even worse as he witnesses a murder outside the club. To get away from the gangsters, he reluctantly dons drag and joins Lena and her delightfully madcap transgender dance crew on a getaway to the countryside. Both Mony and the narrow-minded villagers are in for a lesson in tolerance and compassion in this charming comedy.

This is the country's first genuine LGBT- themed film, casting several of Cambodia's prominent transgender artists. The film touches upon the difficulties the LGBT-community face with warmth and humor, but moreover it shows us the strong bonds and sense of community among outsiders. The focus is on friendship, family and romance, with a healthy dose of feelgood jokes and «high heels are really difficult»-gags.
