The 67-year-old widow Hana’s whole purpose in life is her two grown up sons, whom she serves 24/7. She doesn’t get even a small thank you in return. One day she accidentally finds herself rescuing an overeager winter swimmer from the ice-cold river. This is the start of a romance (with Brona, quite a character!), as well as a new hobby and an introduction to a colorful and vivid group of friends. All of this to the great dismay of her self-absorbed sons.
ICE MOTHER is an honest and refreshing coming-of-middle-age film, a “dramedy” with excellent performances by the two leading roles. The film is a heartwarming treat in the cold winter season, a perfect match for both film lovers and ice swimmers.
