Grace Jones, a true pop cultural icon, has always known how to make an impact. Her abstract and uncompromising style as a musician, actor, supermodel and a performer made Jones one of the major personalities of the wild 70’s and 80’s. Her well-orchestrated image however, also made Grace Jones out to be something of an impenetrable and dangerous mystery.
GRACE JONES: BLOODLIGHT AND BAMI lets us in on this formidable character, and gives us a glimpse into her creative process, her life philosophy, debauchery and family life, as well as some smashing live concert footage. Sophie Fiennes’ documentary is made in a fly-on-the-wall style over the course of a decade, allowing Jones herself and her friends, family and colleagues to tell the story of this complicated person: from her violent upbringing in Jamaica, to the limelight of the stage and front pages.
