Michael is a civil engineer living and working in Berlin. He barely has any contact with his son Luis, who is now 14 years old. When Michael’s father – who also is Luis’ grandfather – dies, the two of them travel together to the north of Norway, where the old man lived. It comes as a surprise for both of them when Michael suggests that he and Luis should take a trip further into the Norwegian landscape. It is time for them to finally get to know each other. But the mood is tense and the pressure is high after years of Michael’s absence. Is it possible for the father and son to reach a releasing point

BRIGHT NIGHTS is a road movie where the landscape of Northern Norway is an important character, strengthened by Ola Fløttum’s dreamlike music. The father and son relationship has deep wounds, but also space for some unavoidable comical reliefs.

Introduction with director present the screenings on Tuesday and Wednesday.
