It’s been ten years since my sister died. A diagnosed schizophrenic who was being treated with multiple antipsychotic medications, she died suddenly and unexpectedly, and her official autopsy report states that the cause of death is unknown. Since then, I’ve been driven by a need to uncover the truth. In the feature documentary CAUSE OF DEATH: UNKNONWN, I take a close look at the pharmaceutical industry, and the ways in which they’ve manipulated scientists and physicians, suppressed evidence, and gained influence over government regulatory agencies in order to maximize profits while putting ever-increasing portions of the population at risk.
From a small city in Norway to the halls of government agencies in Washington, D.C., the film exposes the complex web spun by the industry that affects each and every one of us. This work-in-progress screening will show selected scenes from the forthcoming film, and I encourage the audience to offer feedback. – Anniken Hoel
