It all began in Tunisia, december 17th 2010, when 26 year old Mohamed Bouazizi set fire to himself. Few excpected Tunisia to be the Arab country to spark revolutions that called for freedom, dignity and justice throughout the entire Arab world, but that is what happened. No doubt we all know about the Arab Spring. ROUGE PAROLE gives us a close look at the post-revolutionary troubles and upheavals in Tunisia. Through news clips, amateur recordings and mood shots ROUGE PAROLE follows the tradition of Direct Cinema. This style aims to be observing, but viewers will still get an eerie sense of being a part of the action, and a feel for the seriousness of it all during mass demonstrations and the rebuilding of the country.
ROUGE PAROLE documents Tunisia’s first steps towards democracy, and is an educational and thrilling documentary about our own time.
