- We are happy to see that all the work we put in during the year materializes in the movie theatres during the festival. And that happens despite the fact that this year’s program has been quite challenging, festival director Ms. Martha Otte says.
She adds that this goes to say when a movie like the Swedish “Play” by director Ruben Östlund is was elected the audience’ favorite film.
- This reflects the challenge that lies in creating the festival program. There was no telling a demanding film like “Play” would be rewarded the Audience Award, Otte continues
Rich vocational program
Boardleader at TIFF, Mr. Gunnar Wilhelmsen, expresses great satisfaction to the attention the vocational program and seminars has received.
- TIFF has become a cornerstone for the entire film industry and the discussion and the speaches at the opening seminar set the agenda for the cultural political debate. We welcome this greatly. Also it is assuring knowing that our communication with the political system and the corporate Norway including the media is so good, Mr. Wilhelmsen adds.
Good response
This year’s feedback from the festival pariticipants has been more positive than ever.
- That is partly because the ticket sale went without any problems and partly due to the tune-up of our webpage, head of communications, Mr. Håvard Stangnes explains.
During the festival the pages receives more than one million views and there were 71,000 visitors. By 4 p.m. Sunday 52,900 tickets were sold, which is 700 more tickets than the previous year. In addition some 2,500 kids attended the snow cinema.
