A day at Tromsø International Film Festival includes some everyday routines. For example, on weekdays, there is a morning session at the snow screen in the center of town. Cartoons are screened, beanbags are offered for visiting children, hot drinks and fruits are served - and volunteers make sure that everything runs smoothly. In the afternoon, when firework is launched, 200 boxes of sushi are served to those passing by. Again, the volunteers are at the right place at the right time to ensure that everything works out fine. The visitors at TIFF have many reasons to send lots of love to all the volunteers that do their very best to make this festival happen!
TIFF has a bit more than 300 volunteers. What happens if you have 25.000? Roskilde festival is the biggest music and culture festival in Northern Europe, and Hans Christian Smed is commercial manager at the festival. He is coming to Tromsø and invites us to take a peek behind the curtains at the festival. He will tell us a bit about recruiting and motivating volunteers. The lecture will be given in Danish.

About Samdrift:
TIFF has, together with Bukta – Tromsø Open Air Festival and the Insomnia festival, developed a project called Samdrift. This project is focusing on how to make it even more worthwhile volunteering at festivals and cultural events. Inviting a representative from Roskilde to talk about volunteering is one way of creating more awareness about volunteer issues.
