Tromsø International Film Festival has expanded ever since its beginning. The festival now screens more films, has gained a larger audience and has naturally outgrown the traditional cinemas in Tromsø. Films are therefore screened in a variety of venues located in the city centre.
Aurora kino Fokus is the public cinema in Tromsø and TIFF's main screening venue, with its six screens and 936 seats.
Norway's oldest cinema building, Verdensteatret is still in use as a cinematheque. In addition to the theatre it houses a café and TIFF staff offices. The retrospective program and the silent film concert usually take place here during the festival, along with ordinary festival screenings.
Other theatres and concert halls are also used as screening venues during the festival, KulturHuset , Hålogaland Teater and the Driv Student House all open their halls for TIFF.
